Welcome to 1H!

Hello and welcome to 1H! I am so excited to be your kiddo's teacher this year, and I'm greatly looking forward to getting to know your kiddo and your family better!

First grade is a wonderful new adventure for our young learners! My goals are to encourage your child to think critically, challenge themselves academically, make new friends and build relationships, learn about the outside world, and become more independent. There are many ways we will work towards these goals throughout the year, but a strong school-home partnership is essential. I know we have an amazing year ahead of us!

Please know that I am not just here for your child, but here to support your family as well. I can’t wait to get to meet your child and begin our 1st grade journey together! I believe that a strong school and family partnership will help your child succeed inside and outside of the classroom, and a large component of fostering that success is communication. Please feel free to contact me through Parent Square or e-mail, and I will respond as soon as possible. I actively check my e-mail between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, when I am not teaching or in meetings. If you contact me after 4:30 pm then I will respond to you the next day.

In this blog you'll find information and resources for you to use at home, as well as updates about what we are learning in the classroom via our classroom newsletter. If you have any questions now, or throughout the school year, please don't hesitate to contact me! I am looking forward to a fun year full of learning, growth, and excitement!

"When parents and teachers work well together, everyone benefits. Parents and teachers can provide each other with unique insight and different perspectives about the same child, culminating in a more complete understanding of that child, their abilities, strengths, and challenges. The teacher will know much more about the curriculum and the school culture, while you know more about your child's personality, tendencies, and family life. A successful parent-teacher partnership also shows a child that an entire team of adults is on their side." - Scholastic
